Coco Wouters is a London-based film director whose work centres on intimate, character-driven stories. Informed by her background in Anthropology (MA, Laval University – Canada & ULB – Belgium) and Screenwriting (MA, IAD – Belgium), her practice seeks to reveal what is often overlooked or unseen within society.

Her debut feature documentary, Framing Her, received funding from Sundance TV, the Swedish Film Institute, and the Norwegian Film Institute, and premiered at the Academy Award–qualifying Warsaw Film Festival.

In 2024, Coco founded Horizontale Productions, a UK-based production company through which she develops her own films and collaborates as both a director and producer.

Alongside her directing work, Coco brings a versatile skillset as a scriptwriter and self-shooting producer/director, as well as experience as a producer’s assistant on HETV productions for Netflix and Apple TV+, and on independent features supported by the BFI. She is passionate about bringing each story to life in a distinctive way and thrives on creative collaboration across new projects and commissions.
